Follow the steps in this article to edit the tenant's deposit status.
When creating a new contract (you can see the details of the steps to follow to create a new contract in this explanatory article) and activate the deposit section, the deposit status for tenants and for the public entity. Through these two drop-downs you can enter the status of the deposit, delivery or return, of the tenant to the owner/manager of the rental, as well as in relation to the owner/manager of the rental with the public entity where the deposit must be submited, if applicable.
When the contract begins
When adding a deposit to a contract, the deposit status will be Pending by default for both the tenant and the public body. These statuses can be edited at any time, and we recommend entering the date at the time the status is changed, a history of security status changes will be provided.
Once the tenant pays the deposit, the status should be edited to Paid. Once the tenant's bond is posted as Paid, the deposit for the public entity will automatically be edited to Received.
Once the deposit has been paid by the tenant, the next step is to deposit it with the public entity. Once this is done, edit the status of the deposit in the Public Agency: from Received to Deposited.
When the contract ends
When the end of the tenant's contract approaches, the next step is to request the return of the deposit from the public entity. Then update the status of the security deposit with the public agency from Deposited to Refund Requested.
2. Once the deposit is received from the public entity, the state will be updated from Refund Requested to Refund Processed.
3. When the deposit is recovered from the public entity and the deposit has been returned to the tenant, the status of the deposit at the public body will change from Refund Processed to Settled. The status of the bond for the tenant will be automatically updated to Returned.
Once the status is settled for the public entity and returned for the tenant, the process is considered to be completed. The status for the tenant will be unchangeable unless the status for the public entity is edited first.
